Den Blodröda Orkidén är en sällsynt blomma som är lösningen till gåtan om evigt liv – och skapar en förmögenhet till det läkemedelsföretag som hittar den. Under ledning av en hårdför legosoldat ger sig in en forskarexpedition i Borneos snåriga djungel för att hitta och föra tillbaka ett prov från den mytomspunna växten. Längs floden kämpar äventyrarna mot giftiga insekter, blodtörstiga krokodiler och vildsinta huvudjägare. Vad de inte vet är att de står inför en mycket större fara: ett bo med jättelika anakondor, över 15 meter långa, rovgiriga köttätare som gör vad som krävs för att försvara sin boplats – som också råkar vara Den Blodröda Orkidéns hemvist.
