Antonio en Paolo wonen al een aantal jaren gelukkig samen in Berlijn, ver weg van hun familie in Italië. Op een avond gaat Paolo door de knieën en vraagt zijn vriend ten huwelijk. Hij wil ook meteen mee met Antonio op familiebezoek om zijn ouders te ontmoeten. Er is echter een probleem. De ouders kennen Paolo niet en weten nog niet eens dat hun zoon homoseksueel. In Italië wordt Paolo met warmte ontvangen, maar als de plannen van het gelukkige stel duidelijk worden, hebben de ouders hun eigen bedenkingen. Moeder wil een groots huwelijk georganiseerd door een bekende wedding planner. Maar vader, als burgemeester de aangewezene om het huwelijk te sluiten, is niet zo tolerant als hij pretendeert te zijn...
