한껏 부풀린 머리모양이 대유행이었고 십대 백인들 사이에 흑인풍 유행이 몰아닥치고 민권운동의 긴장이 끓어오르기 시작하던 1960년대 초반. 디바인과 제리 스틸러는 뚱뚱한 리키 레이크의 부모 역으로 등장한다. 리키는 결국 라는 풍의 프로그램을 하게 되고 멋진 남자를 얻고 밉살스런 부모인 소니 보노와 데보라 해리의 망나니 부자 딸을 적발해낸다.
