巨大クレーターが観光名所の米南西部の砂漠の街アステロイド・シティ。科学賞の栄誉に輝いた5人の天才的な子供たちの授賞式の最中に宇宙人が到来する事件が発生。軍は宇宙人出現の事実を隠蔽しようとするが、子供たちは外部へ情報を伝えようと企てて……。
