Pour la reprise en 2018 de la monumentale production de Sonja Frisell de ce grand chef-d'œuvre, le Met a réuni une distribution véritablement étoilée. La soprano Anna Netrebko endosse le rôle-titre pour la première fois au Met, et la mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili incarne sa rivale, la princesse complice Amneris. Le ténor Aleksandrs Antonenko est Radamès, le guerrier que les deux femmes aiment, et Quinn Kelsey prête son baryton robuste au père d'Aïda, le roi déchu Amonasro. Le maestro Nicola Luisotti est sur le podium pour diriger cette représentation épique, filmée dans le cadre de la série de retransmissions cinématographiques Live in HD du Met.
