Aus Geldnot nimmt der frustrierte und deshalb eher ungemütliche Kammerjäger Morris Buttermaker einen Job als Baseballtrainer einer Jugendmannschaft an. Der ehemalige Profi-Baseballspieler bringt zwar das nötige Fachwissen mit, doch die jugendliche Chaostruppe erweist sich als echte Herausforderung. Es gelingt ihm das Verliererteam nach und nach in Richtung Tabellenspitze zu führen. Doch nicht nur die Spieler werden zu Gewinnern.
